Printing from DeskTop Set
1. Window/Orphan control is checked, but my records
still print on two pages.
2. How do I print a group, topic or category?
3. My print preview or printout is blank.
4. How do I print an entire year's Calendar?
5. When I print a daily itinerary, why doesn't
Calendar print the blanks in my schedule?
6. My labels are not properly aligned on the
printout.
7. Actual keywords are printing instead of their
corresponding information.
8. How do I remove old styles from my print menu?
9. My printer is not printing correctly.
1. Window/Orphan control is checked, but my records
still print on two pages.
This option only prevents one line from being
separated from the rest of the record. To force an entire record to
print on a single page, click the "Keep lines together option," which
appears just to the right of "Window/Orphan control".
2. How do I print a group, topic or category?
To print groups, topics, or categories, you must
assign them to a print range, and print only that range:
— Select File/Envelopes/Style setup or...
— Select File/Labels/Style setup or...
— Select Files/Print book/Style setup, and the
following options:
1. Highlight
the style you wish to print and click the Range tab.
2. Click the Add button and name your new range, then
click OK.
3. Highlight the group(s), topic(s), and category(s)
you want to add to that range.
4. Click the Options tab.
5. Under "Print by," select Range.
6. Under Range, select the range that you just
created.
7. Click Preview to verify that only the members of
this range will print.
3. My print preview or printout is blank.
If you are able to print a single record, but not a
book, your Print Templates may be empty. A Print Template specifies
which information about each person will print. If this template is
blank, your printout will also be blank.
To resolve this issue:
1. Select File/Print Book/Style Setup to select the
style of book you wish to print.
2. Highlight this style, and then click the Template
tab.
3. If the four Template sections (labeled Left Index,
Right Index, Left Template, and Right Template) are blank, click the
Fields button, which appears above the Right Index box. A Fields
List will appear.
4. You may now place your cursor in each of the four
Template sections, and select which fields should print by
double-clicking the appropriate field in the Fields list.
5. The Index fields will appear as a heading for each
person -- try placing <PAGE NAME> in the Left Index field, for
example. If you do not want information in any one section, leave it
blank.
6. Once the fields are filled in, click Preview to
see how the printout will appear. Then click Print to print your
book.
4. How do I print an entire year's Calendar?
You can print an entire year using the Combo folder:
1. Select File/Print Setup/Combo folder from the
Calendar menu.
2. In the Page layout section, select "Calendar" for
the 1st column and "None" for the 2nd and 3rd columns.
3. Select the desired options in the Calendar setup
area and click OK.
4. To print the year calendar, select File/Print/Combo
folder.
5. When I print a daily itinerary, why doesn't
Calendar print the blanks in my schedule?
In order to print blank entries as they appear in your
Day view, you must uncheck two options in the print setup. It is not
enough to simply uncheck "Skip blanks", because Calendar sorts your
events in chronological order, with blank events at the bottom of the
list. Therefore, when you sort your events, the Skip blanks option has
no effect.
To print the blank lines in your schedule:
1. Select File/Print setup/Daily itinerary… from
Calendar’s menu.
2. In the Options section, make sure that you have not
selected Skip blanks and Sort entries.
3. Click OK to save any changes, then print the daily
itinerary.
6. My labels are not properly aligned on the
printout.
Please review your Print Preview for these labels:
1. Choose File/Labels/Style Setup from the Address
Book menu.
2. Highlight the style label you are trying to print.
3. Click the Preview button to preview your printout.
The preview should show the same problems as you are seeing in the
actual printout. If it does not, click the Info button and inform
Technical Support of the settings that are displayed.
4. Click Close to close the Preview window.
5. Click the Page Setup tab at the top of the screen.
6. Look at the Section Margins (be sure it is the
SECTION margins you are looking at, and not the Page margins) portion of
the screen. Adjust these margins to realign the labels.
7. You can click Preview at any time to see the effect
on your printout. Continue adjusting your section margins in order to
fit your labels neatly on the page.
7. Actual keywords are printing instead of their
corresponding information.
Make sure that:
— You have at least one space between each of the
DeskTop Set keywords and any surrounding text.
— All fields begin and
end in angle brackets and are in capital letters (ex. <PAGE NAME>).
—
You have used valid keywords, and that they are spelled correctly. We
recommend using the Fields button to select the merge field names,
instead of entering them manually, to avoid mistakes.
8. How do I remove old styles from my print menu?
If your Print Styles menu contains styles that no
longer exist, you can clear the menu. For example, to clear the list of
Book styles:
1. Choose File/Print Book/Style Setup from the menu.
2. Click the Module Setup tab.
3. Click the Clear printing menu button, and click OK.
4. The next time you choose File/Print Book, the most
recently used styles will not appear.
Alternatively, you can clear the Print menu using another
method:
1. Hold down the CTRL and SHFT keys on your keyboard.
2. Choose File/Print Book/Style Setup from the menu.
3. Select the style you wish to print, and print it.
4. The next time you choose File/Print Book, the only
style in the list will be the one you printed last.
9. My printer is not printing correctly.
Older printer drivers may not print out properly.
Downloading and installing the most recent driver from your printer
manufacturer usually resolving these issues. Please visit related site
for updated drivers and instructions.
